Grimsby GO Station: Opening Date, Location & Construction Updates

Last updated: July 2026

Grimsby's long-awaited GO Station is one step closer to reality. Construction has begun on the future station, which is expected to open in 2027 and bring GO Train service to one of the last remaining gaps along the Lakeshore West corridor.

For visitors, that means a more convenient way to reach Grimsby and explore Niagara without relying entirely on the QEW.

When Will Grimsby GO Station Open?

Construction on the Grimsby GO Station officially began in 2026, with the station currently expected to open in 2027.

Once complete, the station will become part of the Lakeshore West GO line, making Grimsby easier to reach from Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Toronto, and other communities served by GO Transit. While opening dates for major infrastructure projects can change, 2027 remains the current target.

Where Will the Grimsby GO Station Be?

The station is being built near Casablanca Boulevard, immediately south of the QEW and adjacent to the existing rail corridor.

Its location was chosen to provide convenient access to both the highway and the surrounding community. Visitors arriving by train will be just a short drive, rideshare, bike ride, or local transit connection from Grimsby's waterfront, downtown, restaurants, wineries, parks, and other attractions.

What Will the Grimsby GO Station Include?

According to the current project plans, the station has been designed to accommodate both commuters and visitors.

Planned features include:

  • 220 parking spots (commuter parking)

  • Fully accessible GO Train platforms

  • Passenger pick-up and drop-off area

  • Bus loop for transit connections

  • Bicycle parking

  • Pedestrian pathways throughout the site

Together, these amenities are intended to make travelling to and from Grimsby easier, whether you're visiting for the day, enjoying a weekend getaway, or continuing your journey through Niagara.

Why Is the Grimsby GO Station Being Built?

The Grimsby GO Station is intended to improve regional transit connections between Hamilton and Niagara while making it easier for residents and visitors to travel throughout the western end of Lake Ontario.

For visitors, the station represents another option for exploring Grimsby without driving the entire journey. As GO service continues expanding across the region, it will become easier to plan day trips, weekend visits, and connections to destinations throughout Niagara.

How Will Visitors Get Around After Arriving?

The station is designed to serve as a convenient gateway to Grimsby and the surrounding Niagara region.

Visitors will be able to continue their journey by rideshare, local transit, bicycle, or car, depending on where they're headed. The waterfront, downtown, local wineries, conservation areas, and other attractions are all easily reached once you arrive.

As local transportation options evolve following the station's opening, this section can be expanded to include additional visitor information.
